These safety pins are smaller than I thought they'd be, and the metal is thinner as well. The pin part pierces fabric well, and the pin holds okay, but I can't shake the feeling that these are shaped like and meant to be pin backs for name badges. Otherwise, I don't know why they have such an odd shape. I also feel like the open head kind of defeats the idea of a "safety" pin. The traditional safety pin has a solid head to cover the end of the pin and keep the user safe. Although I haven't been poked by it in the closed position, I feel that the open design of this pin head opens up the possibility of unintentional pokes. I was anxious to try these because of the unusual design. I thought that they'd perhaps hit on a better way to pin, but instead, I just found these to be small and weird.
